Frequently asked questions

These answers grow as families ask new things. If yours is missing, write to us.

Do children wear uniforms?

No. There is no uniform and no required extra kit. We would rather children dress in a way that feels like themselves.

Are snacks and meals included?

Yes. Our on-site kitchen prepares fresh meals each day from mostly whole ingredients. We are open about what is served and happy to talk through allergies and preferences.

How will I hear about my child’s day?

A family app carries photos, short videos, and private notes so you can keep a living record of what your child is making and noticing.

Do you go on field trips?

With written consent, yes — especially for children 4 and older, often monthly or more. Everyday outings are covered in tuition unless an activity is unusually costly.

What are your hours?

We are open 8:00am to 5:30pm. We close on weekends, statutory holidays, and the business days between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Are you tied to a particular method or brand?

Sealight is independent. We draw on parenting research and developmental science — including work on attachment and self-regulation — without belonging to a franchise or a single named school of thought.

Will you help with potty learning?

Yes. Educators watch for readiness, talk it through with you, and keep the language consistent between home and the centre.

Can I sit down with educators to talk about development?

Always. Even if you do not ask, we reach out regularly. Educators are not buried in admin, so longer conversations are possible whenever you need them.

Do you write reports for private school applications?

From age 4 we can prepare progress notes that support an application, and we are glad to write a reference when a school asks for one.

Are you licensed?

Yes. Sealight holds a multi-age child care licence and is inspected under Fraser Health. You are welcome to review inspection records online.

How do the youngest children get outside?

Little ones who are still finding their feet use our private yard and go out in multi-seat strollers so walks stay comfortable and changing.

What do you clean with?

We use EcoLogo hydrogen-peroxide cleaners that break down into water, stay nearly odourless, and still disinfect well.

Which languages are spoken?

English is the language of the centre. Some educators speak another language at home, though we cannot promise a particular one. We may survey families later about a second-language offering.

Are there cameras in the rooms?

Cameras cover indoor and outdoor spaces for safety. Feeds are not streamed to families, out of respect for shared privacy. Educators still send you photos and notes through the family app.

Is there parking?

Yes. We have dedicated on-site parking and nearby street parking for drop-off and pick-up. Stroller and wheelchair access is planned into the building.

How do you keep the building secure?

The centre is locked. There are no drop-in visits. Guests are scheduled and hosted. Parents receive a fob for arrival and departure, and staff plus cameras watch the rooms throughout the day.

Is this a structured academic program?

No. Current research points toward relationship, safety, and freedom as the ground for real creativity. We do not run a new theme every Monday. Days stay flexible so interests can last as long as they are alive.
